Merry Makers:  More than a name, it is our purpose.

We learned early on our purpose was not to save the world.  Yeah, it was a letdown – no cape, no tights.  But we soon realized being able to make people’s life experiences more memorable and enjoyable was very satisfying and better matched our skill set.  When training our new crew, we tell them to watch a child’s face as the inflatable fills with air.  They quickly understand that look of awe and excitement is what our work is really about. More than providing party rentals and performers, we offer people the opportunity to be amused, get excited and play together; to relive those moments when you saw life as amazing and you reveled in it.

Now, add in a few more people and it becomes a shared social experience.  New friends are made, families come together and co-workers unite. A spark of community emerges . . . huh, maybe we are trying to save the world….one event at a time.

When there are two guys with unique skills who enjoy serving others with their brand of ‘quirky’, what do they do?  They start an entertainment business.  That happened in the summer of 1990 with two young guys toting a suitcase full of balloons, a pair of stilts, a unicycle and some pocket magic.

It began with twisting balloons at Red Robin restaurants and soon we were on our way to the top — of the Space Needle, where we entertained people from all over the world. Along with our first Christmas came Real-Beard Santas, Elves and other characters that performed at corporate and private events. The next season Merry Makers was hired to operate the face painting booth and perform magic shows at Enchanted Parks & Wild Waves. Within a few years we jumped into bounce house rentals, inflatable obstacle course and slide rentals. Always seeking out what people will want, we were one of the first airbrush face painters in Washington. You may have seen us at a Mariners games or had your kids, or your younger self, painted at the Washington State Fair.

With a big Thank You to our great customers, we have become one of the top Event, Party Rental and Entertainment companies in Washington State. As from the beginning, we believe play and fun are good for everyone, any age, any race, any gender, religion or political view.  All in all, it has been an excellent ride and we hope to continue our fun service for years to come.

Mark Wilson, President

Being one of the founders, I’ve been fortunate to experience every aspect of the business from birthday parties to high profile events and have worn a lot of hats along the way: stilt walker, balloon twister, pirate, delivery & set up guy. For 11 years, until it ended in 2009, I roamed Seattle Children’s Hospital as Dr. Spud with the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit twice a month.  An Evergreen State College grad, I appreciate good movies at The Grand Cinema, travel and hiking in the beautiful NW.

Joel Lockwood, Operations Manager

Coming from large, non-profit management and hospitality industries, I have never had a position that I get more satisfaction and enjoyment from than working with this amazing team putting smiles on the faces of people. I enjoy spending every spare moment with my family and being involved in my community.  Then there’s fishing…any chance I get.

Jeff O’Connor, Event Director

I simply love planning events.  Having all of these exciting amusements at my fingertips only fuels my obsession.  What started as producing huge dances back in high school has grown over the years into the multi-faceted world of event planning.  I recharge with my girlfriend, dog and recent fish addition.
